Packers
Food for Kids will begin scheduling bag-packing sessions for the 2026-2027 school year in June. Each week during the school year, volunteers pack food bags for children who have applied for the program. These bags are distributed to the children on Friday mornings, ensuring they have breakfast and lunch for the entire weekend.
We recommend that groups consist of around 6 to 8 people, although smaller groups are welcome; please note that packing may take longer with fewer participants. On average, it takes about an hour to pack the bags with the recommended group size.
The volunteer opportunity takes place on Wednesdays, and we offer flexible scheduling, with options for morning, afternoon, or evening shifts. If you're interested in volunteering to pack bags, please reach out to Terra Holdridge. Packing dates will be communicated via a Google document, and they tend to fill up quickly.

St. Vincent de Paul
Our St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store in Merrill is always looking for on-going volunteers at the store. This may include 4 to 5 hours per week sorting and pricing clothing, housewares, books and many other categories. Cashiering is another possibility. Hours would vary and can fit your schedule.
All funds raised by the SVDP Thrift Store go into the SVDP Outreach Program. The Outreach mission is to meet short-term emergency needs of friends/neighbors seeking their services. These needs may be past due rent, utilities, vehicle repair, gas vouchers, medical expenses, lodging for the homeless, food, clothing, furniture, phone bills and other help in many different areas. Along with providing for these needs the Outreach Office will refer individuals to other potential services that are available.
Call the manager at the St. Vincent de Paul store for more information. 715-539-2666
